Batavia IL Homes for Sale
Founded in 1833, Batavia was the first town in Kane County. The founder Christopher Payne also played a part in the establishing of nearby Naperville and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The town was incorporated in 1872. It held the Nicknamed of "The Windmill City'', as the town was known as the windmill manufacturing capital and dominated the world in Windmill production during the turn of the century. Batavia is now home to hundreds of manufacturing, warehouse, and research firms. Batavia School District 101 serves the students of the area and currently has 6 elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The Batavia Park District was established in 1969 spans over 400 acres and includes an in-line skating/skateboarding park, aquatic facility, museum, playing fields, and both tennis and basketball courts too. The scenic Batavia Riverwalk offers wonderful additional recreational area.
