Living in Bolingbrook

Bolingbrook is a village about 30 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, mostly in Will County with a northern section in DuPage County. It borders Naperville, Woodridge, Romeoville and Plainfield, and it grew from a single 1960s subdivision into one of the larger villages in the western suburbs.

The Promenade Bolingbrook, an open-air shopping and dining center at Boughton Road and I-355, anchors the village's main retail area, with more big-name stores across the street. The 18-hole Bolingbrook Golf Club is a village-owned public course that has hosted professional tournaments. The Fountaindale Public Library on Briarcliff Road and the village-owned Clow International Airport, a small public-use airfield, round out a list of local landmarks.

The Bolingbrook Park District runs Pelican Harbor Indoor/Outdoor Aquatic Park inside the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Complex, along with Central Park, the Annerino Community Center and the 9-hole Boughton Ridge Golf Course. On the north side, Whalon Lake, the Hidden Lakes Historic Trout Farm and the Hidden Oaks Nature Center sit along the DuPage River, linked by the DuPage River Greenway Trail.

Homes in Bolingbrook

Bolingbrook's homes follow the village's growth from east to west. Near Route 53 and I-55, the oldest neighborhoods date to the 1960s and 1970s, with ranches, raised ranches, split-levels and two-story homes on established streets.

Moving west, subdivisions from the 1980s through the 2000s offer larger two-story homes, many near ponds, parks and walking paths. Townhome and condominium communities are found throughout the village, often close to the main roads and shopping.

Bolingbrook Schools

Most of Bolingbrook is served by Valley View School District 365U. Other parts of the village are served by neighboring districts:

• Valley View Community Unit School District 365U, including Bolingbrook High School
• Indian Prairie School District 204 and Naperville Community Unit School District 203, serving parts of the north side
• Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, serving part of the south side
• Woodridge School District 68 with Community High School District 99, serving part of the east side

Lewis University in Romeoville, Joliet Junior College and the College of DuPage are all within a short drive. School boundaries can change, so always confirm the assigned schools for a specific address directly with the district.

Commuting from Bolingbrook

I-55 runs through the heart of Bolingbrook with interchanges at Route 53 and Weber Road, and I-355 runs along the east side with an exit at Boughton Road, putting I-88 and I-80 within easy reach. Average drive times from Bolingbrook:

By train

Bolingbrook doesn't have its own Metra station. Most commuters drive north to the Metra BNSF line stations in Lisle or Naperville, where express trains reach Chicago Union Station in about 35–40 minutes. From the south side of the village, the Romeoville station on the Metra Heritage Corridor is another option, with limited weekday service to Union Station.
